Mountain View Cottage is an ideal base for anyone wishing to explore Cumbria - the Lake District. The Keswick area is by far the most beautiful part of the Lake District National Park with fantastic mountain scenery and Derwent Water, the gem of the region's Lakes. The magnificent mountain of Skiddaw towers over the picturesque market town of Keswick, which is just a few miles away from the cottage.

Keswick itself offers an excellent choice of shops, restaurants, pubs and visitor attractions including Cars of the Stars and Castlerigg Stone Circle. Nearby you will find three fantastic lakes including Derwent Water, Bassenthwaite, Thirlmere and Ullswater, all of which come complete with breathtaking mountain scenery. Many of the best known fells can be found close by including Skiddaw, Helvellyn, Dollwwaggon Pike and Great Dodd,

The local area offer lots of opportunities for enjoying the beautiful scenery, or for visiting attractions. For the more active visitor there is an abundance of walking routes close by, along with opportunities for mountain climbing. Boating opportunities are available on Derwent Water, Ullswater and Bassenthwaite and there are plenty of rivers nearby that offer fishing rights.

For those interested in golf you will find a good selection of local courses including Threlkeld, Keswick, Penrith, Kirkby Stephen, Maryport and Silloth to name but a few.
